Tips for College Freshman Survival: Part One

Saturday, May 31st, 2008

When I was reading my past articles, I noticed that majority of these were my personal notes, reflections, views, etc. Now, I’m about to enter college, and somehow, in my own little way, I wanted to be a great help to you guys, most especially those, my fellows who’re about to enter college.

I’ve done some research recently about tips in college in various websites on the internet-landia, and so I wanted to share it with you guys. Some of these are really MY idea, others aren’t.

1. Prepare each day as if there’ll be a pop quiz.
If you haven’t enrolled yet, as much as possible, do not go for back-to-back classes. This is so high school. Who would want to encounter a terror teacher every hour, right? It’s best that you have enough time to ponder or understand things that were taught to you minutes before leaving that room and be able to study in preparation for the next subject.

2. Do not join clubs/ organizations immediately.
As for my case, ADDU doesn’t allow college freshmen to join any clubs yet until their second year. For those enrolling to universities where this case is allowed, I suggest that you wouldn’t. Why? You haven’t adjusted to your new environment yet, and now you are to join a club? A big no-no. It’s best for you to be academically & physically stable first before getting additional load such as clubs/orgs which may directly and/or indirectly affect your studies.

3. Make new friends.
If you have a problem with this-or-that lessons, at least you have a friend to turn to; unless your friends doesn’t understand the lessons too? *haha* But again, friends are also a part of our personal foundation towards the community, that is our college environment.

Company Inefficiencies Being Charged To Customers

Wednesday, May 28th, 2008

System’s loss, the distribution utilities like Meralco is charging the consumers, is the much-hated issue of the day.  The consumers are so furious when they came to know and understand what system’s losses are.  Granting that the loss is contributed by the dissipation of electrical energy through the transmission line due to heating, it is irrational to make the consumers responsible to recover such losses.  And compounding such inefficiencies are the losses through pilferages of electricity and thief of transmission line materials and accessories.  All these are being charged to the consumers which they do not understand why.  What is the reason behind this irregularity? see more @Pinoy Barking Hall

Nothing…But A Croaking Frog

Sunday, May 25th, 2008

One night we were disturbed by noisy people down the road.  The exodus of young and old town residents, as they went up to the mountain hurriedly and frightfully, were difficult to understand.  The widespread rain-shower prevented us from inquiring as to what was really happening.           The unfolding event sent us scampering for safety. see more @ Pinoy Barking Hall
