  • Vietnam is Officially a Microsoft Country

    A CNN report tells of Vietnam’s government signing an agreement with Microsoft requiring all of its government offices to use licensed software. Software piracy rate in Vietnam is one of the world’s highest at 90%, according to the BSA.

    It is an envy to many that the government of Vietnam can afford expensive Microsoft software. In my country, the Philippines, you’d be lucky to see Dell, HP or Gateway PCs in government offices. Most use refurbished, cloned PCs from the Pentium III to Pentium 4 days. Others, specially police stations still use typewriters. It would be ordinary to see long lines of people lining up in the National Statistics Office or government employees swapping floppy disks.
